Nikki Peterson, ATC's and Twilight

So I have a mish-mash of things to talk about!

I had an absolute blast on Saturday at Picture Me Perfect in Fremont taking Nikki Peterson's Cheaper by the Dozen class. We created 12 layouts in 3 hours. Well, some of us did! I didn't finish all of my pages because I wanted to use my sewing machine on some of the pages. Here are a few of the layouts I did manage to finish:

There were quite a few gals from SiStv in the class so we got together and took this picture together.

And here is Marie whom I haven't seen in a while but is now a Garage Girl (designer) for the store. Way to go, Marie!

Me and Nikki!

I'm in yet another ATC swap over at SiStv. Here's a peek at my "H is for Hula" cards.

I had fun using spray paint for the first time but the hubby wasn't too happy about me killing a part of his lawn with the spray paint. Ooops! Guess I should have thought that out a bit more!

On a non-scrapbook related note, I have finally gotten around to reading the Twilight series.

I had a slow start with the first half of the book but once I got midway I couldn't put the book down! I managed to finish the book in less than a day and in the past 48 hours I am 3/4 of the way through the second book! I never would have imagined being interested in a book about vampires but the writing is soooo good! If you haven't read Twilight, you don't know what you're missing!

Love and Basketball

On Monday Ginger and her hubby called me and the hubby out for a game of 2-on-2 basketball. We gladly accepted. In the end it ended up being me and Ginger against the husbands (how did that happen?)

They did beat us in the first game when we were limited to playing just a quarter of a court. But, when a half court became available to us Ginger and I used our running game to outsmart the boys at their own game and we beat the men 20 to 18! There may have been some double dribbling, traveling and other fouls on our part but hey, we never admitting to being experts on the game. ;)

Here are the boys taking the loss well and Ginger perhaps not taking our win so modestly!

So tomorrow Ginger and I are going to Picture Me Perfect in Fremont to take a class called "Cheaper by the Dozen" by sisTV Fashionista Nikki Peterson! I can't wait! We'll create 12 layouts in 3 hours. For me, that's near impossible so this class should be an eye-opener for me! I haven't been able to take a class of hers before and I love her use of color and different mediums. Here's a 'lil something I pulled from her blog. She's amazing.

So, lately I've been on an ATC craze. I just finished a woodgrain ATC swap over at sisTV. Here's the sneak peek I took:

I'm already working on my next ATC swap: the alphabet swap. 26 of us are each choosing a letter of the alphabet as the basis for creating a card. My letter: H (H is for hula!) It's already halfway done!

I'll definitely take a lot of pictures at tomorrow's class. So until then, happy Friday!

Happy Hearts Day!

It's just a low-key Valentine's Day here at our house. Darren has already more or less put together his Lego Star Wars spaceship. I'm going to enjoy a quiet day at home and work on some more ATC cards! Happy Valentine's Day!

The Winter Cold and Rainbows

Well, the winter colds have set in and unfortunately I'm not referring to the weather! Darren came down with a horrible cold on his first day back to school on Tuesday after our 3-day weekend in Lake Tahoe. We kept him home for 2 days and tried to send him back to school yesterday but when I walked into his class for my usual volunteer time he said he wasn't feeling well again. So home we went...again!

Thankfully he made it through the day today and came home with a bag full of Valentine's Day candy from his class party. I guess a class party and candy is the best form of motivation!

So here's my guy with his new haircut. He loved it so much that he wouldn't even let me touch it. I asked him, "Who are you, Fonzie?" Of course, his response was, "Who's Fonzie?" Geez, I am so aging myself!

So I've been scrapping these past few days here and there and finally managed to finish my rainbow ATC swap over at Scrap in Style TV. Each person chose a few colors of the rainbow to create 6 cards of each and in return we'll get back the same number of cards from other scrappers each from a different color of the rainbow. I'll be sure to post a picture of them when I get them back in a few weeks.

I think I'm loving these ATC swaps because I've already signed up for another one!

I have a Valentine's Day layout to upload tomorrow. My lighting wasn't good by the time I got around to photographing it so it'll be fitting to post it on Valentine's Day! Until then, happy Friday!

Finally! Snow!

What happens when you have a 3-day weekend? You get in the car and hit the road! So we packed the kid, the mother-in-law and ourselves and spent the weekend in Lake Tahoe for a little R&R and a little snowball fight and sledding for good measure!

Here's Darren telling me, "Why do you always have to take pictures all of the time?"

Ya gotta love this kid.

House of 3

Talk about fun, inspiring and FREE! I found a link to the House of 3 website from Facebook and am now ready to try my hand at a little bit of digital scrappin'.

The website was created by Heidi Swapp, Rhonna Farrer and Janet Hopkins and it looks amazing! I've already downloaded the free Valentine tickets shown below. How cute are they?

The site is totally user-friendly and directed at those (such as myself!) who don't know the first thing about using layers, .png files and the like in Photoshop. I can't wait to try out the sanded edges tutorial. The site even has bling for your blog!

So back to those free downloadable Valentine's Day tickets! They are the perfect jumpstart to the Valentine's Day mailbox I want to decorate (scrap!) for Darren to hide all of his Valentine's Day goodies in. I was inspired by this:

The plain mailboxes are from Target's $1 bins. Gotta love it!

Ninety-eight

That is how old my grand-
mother turns today. Happy Birthday Grandma!

Unfortunately, she and my uncle are stuck in a shelter due to the horrific ice storm in Kentucky since last week. They have no heat, electricity or hot water due to the power outage so we are thankful that they were able to find warmth, food and support in a shelter.

I'm sorry I haven't updated my blog in a while. I guess I've been in a blog-funk, if there is such a thing!

I took these pictures a few
weeks ago when my brother and his family were visiting. I took the kids to the park since it was such a beautiful day and they had a blast. Darren's face always lights up when he gets to spend time with his cousins.

I promise to blog again soon! Until then, peace out!
