C-A-M-P-I-N-G spells relief !

It's been over 100 degrees outside yesterday and today and it's not bound to let up this weekend. So I'm thrilled that Ginger and I are off on yet another camping trip to the coast tomorrow. I'm looking forward to temperatures in the upper 70's. :)

We're taking the kids out of school at lunchtime (shhh!) so we can get a head-start on the traffic.

I can't believe Darren's been in school a month now. Here's the first page I've scrapped of him in first grade. This layout came about from ScrapMojo's current challenge. The top photo is Darren and his teacher. Three cheers for Mrs. Tran!

Scrapjacked Challenge

So the latest gal who has been "scrapjacked" is Marie from ScrapMojo. I couldn't pass up this challenge so here's my take layering. Granted, I had planned to include paint and fabric but this layout just sort of worked itself out on its own. I think it's because I had to use all 3 of these pictures on this layout and that's something I haven't done in a while.

On a personal note, I'm off to yet another wedding today and another cousin getting married at that. I'm looking forward to it since I'll get to catch up with a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins I haven't seen in a while.

And did I mention that I'm off on yet another camping trip this next weekend? Yay!

Water + Dirt = Mud

This past week has somehow escaped me. I can blame it on the Olympics. I've never watched so much TV! The summer games are amazing to watch and my excuse to watch it all is that the Olympics only come around every 2 years. Way to go Michael Phelps! It's good to see so much in the news about such a positive and inspiring person. Our kids need more role models like him.

I managed to finish my Maya Road chipboard tree album. It centers around Darren and Hayden's countless hours in oceans, creeks, dirt, mud and all other things boys love. Those boys thrived in it. The ocean pictures give me an especially good laugh. What a great wipeout I caught on camera.

Enjoy a few of the pages!

a winner, a wedding and a challenge

So I went to the Santa Clara Scrapbook Expo last Saturday and wouldn't ya know it. Within 5 minutes of being there I won a drawing! It was a pink layout kit that I'll never use (LOL) so I'll donate it to a worthy cause down the road. Still exciting nonetheless!

So my fave cousin finally married her sweetheart this weekend. 16 years together. Amazing. It was a gorgeous wedding and the bride, of course, looked simply beautiful. Here are a few fun pics of me, my sis, my parents and the bride and groom. I also threw in a few that my little guy took since he was feeling picture-happy.

Finally, I've posted my layout for Scrapmojo's Challenge #19. What a perfect challenge. Since my poor guy is an only child he has sort of 'adopted' his buddy Hayden's little brother, Liam. They are so sweet together! Have a great week!

Lucky Girls We Are!

Now if any of you know my friend Ginger, you know that she ALWAYS has luck on her side (she claims it's because she was born in the Year of the Rabbit, yeah, right!)

Well, for once, I think some of her mojo rubbed off on me.

Friday night we took a mini- canvas book binding class from the one and only Tim Holtz at My Daughter's Wish in Pleasant Hill. We had such a fun time using paint, beeswax and metals. I especially loved the brass cigar box corners we added onto the edges of our canvas.

Anyhow, Tim gave away some awesome raffle prizes and guess what???

Yup!

Ginger and I both won!

Ginger was randomly chosen to pick the first winning raffle ticket out of the raffle basket and can you believe the girl has the gumption to somehow pick her own ticket??? I mean, come on! She won a tin filled with ink, paint and other delectibles.

I, on the other hand, won the last prize of the day. Something I REALLY wanted. Tim held up 2 t-shirts that you can't buy anywhere and one was a fun green tee that I wanted to get my hands on. Another gal won first and I was SURE she was going to pick the green one. But alas, she didn't! Not that I thought I was going to be the next raffle ticket picked but sure enough I was!

I screamed so loud you probably would have thought I won the lottery (or as Ginger said: that I was at a Duran Duran concert. LOL)

Ginger and I had Tim sign our winnings too. :)

So, here's me, Ginger and Tim and our glorious prizes!
