Want to make a dream come true?

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been down and out with the flu. Not a good time, I tell ya!

Anyhow, Scrap For a Cure is doing what we love best: giving back.

Beginning tomorrow at noon PST our kit club will be selling a kit called "Baylee's Hope Box" created almost entirely from donated product by these awesome scrapbook manufacturers: Maya Road, Piggy Tales, Pink Paislee & GCD Studios.

Baylee is the 11 year-old daughter of a fellow scrapbook friend, Cassonda Tadlock. She was born with Leigh's Syndrome which is a metabolic-mitochondrial disease that does not allow her to walk, talk or eat on her own. We have worked hard these past three months putting together this fundraising effort to contribute to the Tadlock family's much-needed family trust to help them build a house that Baylee can live in.

Minus a few minor costs, all kit sales will go to their trust fund. To see photos and learn more about Baylee check out their family link here.

If you scrapbook or enjoy cardmaking or know anyone who does, please forward this link so that we can make this kit drive a success. Thanks everyone!

Darren's kinder- garten class had their "The Three Piggy Opera" last night. They learned the story of "The Three Little Pigs" from their music teacher and turned it into a musical per- formance. It was darling.

I also had to include this picture of Darren with his grand- parents. I just love the photo! I can't believe his Kindergarten year is almost over and that he will be a (GASP!) first grader in July. Times like this makes me realize once again how time goes by so quickly.

Is Summer Here Yet???

It sure felt like it this past weekend. Darren and I spent all of Sunday in the sun watching his cousin play LaCrosse. Look at Jake #27 (you can only see the #2 in the photo. LOL) go!

Darren and his cousin Jason tried their hand at a bit of croquet to pass some of the time but I think they preferred using the sticks as swords. LOL

It was 89 degrees out! Thank goodness for E-Z ups and coolers! Of course, now the weather has dropped 20 degrees so it's back to springtime weather here.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to scrap this weekend but I'm planning on working on some challenges on our Scrap for a Cure message board this week. Our sneak-peek of our May kit is already up as well. We're excited to have Kerry Lynn Yeary be our Guest Designer next month. She is SO talented and nice!!! I can't wait to see what she does with our kit.

Take me out to the Ballgame!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first A's game of the season last Saturday. We beat the Indians 6-1! Yay! Darren certainly had his share of junk food: pizza, cotton candy, soda and ice cream. We figure as long as we feed him, he's a happy camper.

I had a blast at Friday night's fundraiser for my student Shayne. I would definitely consider it as being a success. And can I say that I love Bunco? What a FUN game!

So today is hubby's birthday. We enjoyed a nice dinner out last night. Just the 3 of us. Check out the card I made.

I just loved using the Maya Road chipboard 'highway' piece. I also scrapped Paper Trunk's chipboard wheel AND completed a challenge from our message board all with one project! Yay for me!

A Fundraiser close to my heart

Tomorrow the locals MOMS Club of Brentwood will be hosting a Bunco night fundraiser at Deer Ridge Golf Course for my student Shayne Hanson. He is the sweetest 6-year- old you'll ever want to meet. He also has the cutest dimples you've ever seen!

Shayne was born prematurely with paralyzed vocal cords and struggled to breathe for the first 6 months of his life. He has lived with a feeding tube practically his entire life and flies back and forth to Childrens' Hospital of Cincinnati where specialists have tried to correct his airway.

The fundraiser's goal is to help pay for Shayne's family's staggering medical bills that have accumulated over the years.

If you're local to the area, please try to attend or send a donation if possible. The Bunco night starts at 7pm. Tickets are $25 with a no-host bar, appetizers, raffle and silent auction. All proceeds benefit the family.

For more information contact Alyssa Madden at 925-628-7949. Hope to see you there!

My kid makes me laugh

So I'm coming down the stairs to get ready to take Darren to a playmate's house for a playdate and look what I come down to...

This kid cracks me up. There he is sporting my sunglasses. I had to take a quick picture with my iphone because he looked so cute. I've realized from about the time Darren was 3 that he is going to be the class clown at school. He genuinely likes to make people laugh.

My husband's side of the family tell me that Darren has the same sense of humor as his grandfather, Jaime, who unfortunately passed away before I even met my husband. Are you a splitting physical or personality image of someone else in your family? Just food for thought for the day.
